ZEF Board of Directors

Mike MacLean, President

Mike MacLean is a partner in the law firm of Baker & Daniels LLP, specializing in employee benefits and executive compensation matters.  He graduated from Purdue University in 1987 with a B.S. degree in Accounting and received his J.D. from Indiana University in 1990. 

Mike has had the privilege of working with a variety of educational, non-profit and community organizations in both his professional and personal life, including serving on the Board of Directors of the Indianapolis Public Schools Education Foundation since 2000.

Mike and his wife, Valerie, have been Zionsville residents since 2001.  They have two children.

Marjie Breisch, Treasurer

Marjorie Breisch is a financial consultant and mother of three children.  She received her Bachelors degree with honors from West Virginia University.  She began her career with Ernst & Young in her hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  In 1991, Marjorie and her husband moved to Indiana where she worked for ten years at Conseco in various corporate financial positions most recently as a Second Vice President and Director of Internal Audit.  Marjorie obtained her CPA license in 1989 and is also a Certified Internal Auditor.  She has over 20 years of financial accounting experience.  

She and her husband have lived in Zionsville since 1997.  They are active in their church and children's youth sport programs.  Marjorie is a past Board member of the Boys & Girls Club of Zionsville.  She is a past treasurer of the Union Elementary PTO.    

Beth Kocher, Secretary
Beth Kocher obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of North Dakota. From 1991 to 2000, Beth worked on an inpatient rehabilitation hospital specializing in spinal cord injury, stroke, and head injury. She served as a clinical coordinator for  Physical Therapy students and guest lectured at the University of South Dakota Physical Therapy School.

Beth is currently a full time mother of three very active boys. She is married to Ken and have lived in Zionsville since 2000.  Beth has volunteered for Meals on Wheels annual charity event and Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance annual walk. She has served on the ZEF grants committee, the Gold Star Counseling Committee, and is an active volunteer in the Zionsville Schools.

Missy Copher

Missy Copher earned a B.A. from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and a J.D. from Indiana University.  Missy works for the American Red Cross National Headquarters as a Manager in the Gift Planning Department.

Missy and her husband Mike have three boys, two in preschool and one at Union Elementary.  They have lived in Zionsville since 2008.

Jennifer Cross

Jennifer Cross is a Speech-Language Pathologist by training and a mother of three: Lauren, Mitchell and Lily.

Jennifer has a BA from The Ohio State University and a Masters in Speech-Language Pathology from Indiana University. She is involved in the Women's Fund of Central Indiana, and is an alumna of Options Class 10. She and her husband Pat also volunteer and support the local community theater, Off-Main Street Players. 

Jennifer is involved in the Zionsville Middle School and Pleasant View Elementary PTO's, and has a special passion for promoting and integrating health and wellness in the schools.   She also has served on the ZEF, Spring In-Style Luncheon committee.  

Peggy Edwards
Peggy Edwards is a psychotherapist, working part time in private practice. She worked on the inpatient unit at St. Vincent Stress Center for 18 years. She received her B.S. degree in clinical psychology from Indiana State University followed by a Master's degree in Social Work from Indiana University. She has lived her life in Indiana with the exception of moving to Topeka, KS for a year when she was completing her post graduate work at the Menninger Clinic. 

 

She is married to Eric Siemers who is a neurologist working at Eli Lilly and Co. and the medical  director of their Alzheimer's team.  They have two high school aged sons who are active in soccer, cross country and recreational basketball.  Peggy has been on the board of the Zionsville Youth Soccer Association for several years

Elizabeth Hopper

Elizabeth Hopper and her husband Jeff have lived in Zionsville for over 10 years and have three boys attending Zionsville Schools.  She has been involved with ZEF for six years and during that time has co-chaired Octoberfest and the Fall Frolic and has served on the grants committee.  Elizabeth is also involved in other non-profit organizations including OPTIONS (associated with the Women's Fund of Central Indiana) and The Children's Museum Guild.  She is from Chicago and graduated from Loyola University Chicago, earning a BS in Anthropology.

Chad Johnson

Chad Johnson is a Technical Account Manager for QlikTech a business intelligence software company.  He is responsible for managing large enterprise customers and has nearly 15 years in the Business Intelligence industry.  He received his B.S. Degree in Information Systems from Indiana Wesleyan University and plans to complete his MBA from Colorado State University in May of 2012.  He has lived in Indiana all his life and moved to Zionsville in 2005.

Chad is married to Kelley Johnson, a Business Litigation Attorney for Cohen and Malad.  They have three children, two daughters and a son, one at Zionsville Middle School, Pleasant View Elementary and Boone Meadow.  All three are active in soccer at ZYSA.

Randy Judd

 

Lisa Kayes
Lisa was born and raised in North West Indiana. She received her bachelor's and Master's degrees in Elementary Education from Indiana University, with endorsements in Reading and Kindergarten. Lisa taught for eight years before becoming a full time Mother. Four of those years were spent at Zionsville's Union elementary School.

Lisa and her husband, Kos, moved to Zionsville in 2004 with their two children.

 

Kevin Kennedy

Kevin Kennedy is a Financial Advisor in the Global Wealth Management division of Merrill Lynch specializing in wealth preservation and retirement planning.  Kevin is a 1984 graduate of Zionsville High School. He attended the University of Alabama and Indiana University graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs from IU in 1988.

Kevin and his wife, Jen, also a Zionsville High School graduate, have lived in Zionsville for thirteen years.  They are the parents of a recent Zionsville High School graduate, as well as three other children, two attending Zionsville Middle School and one student at Zionsville High School.  Kevin is also on the Board of Directors of the ALS Association of Indiana.

James Schillaci
Jim Schillaci is a Senior Vice President and Financial Advisor in the Global Wealth Management division of Merrill Lynch.  He began in the financial services industry in 1991.  With over 20 years of experience, Jim has assisted many generations of individuals and institutions reach their financial goals.  He has a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Sam Houston State University.  In addition, Jim has completed the Securities Industry Institute at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. In 2009, Jim was named to the Barron's 2009 Top 1000 Advisors list.  In 2005, the financial magazine On Wall Street recognized Jim's hard work and dedication to clients by naming him one of the "Top 40 Advisors Under 40" in the country. 

 

In addition to his dedication to the Zionsville Education Foundation, Jim is the Vice-President of the Boone County 4H Fair Board, is a representative on the 4H Fair Council, a member of the Big 10 Football Championship Game Local Organizing Committee, and just completed a term on the President's Advisory Council for the Indiana Sports Corporation. Jim and his team have served as the local market commentators for 93 WIBC since 2000. Jim and his wife Adalyn moved to Zionsville in 2006.  They have four children attending Zionsville schools.

 

 

Bob Spoonmore

Bob Spoonmore is a quality consultant for Eli Lilly and Company specializing in qualification for pharmaceutical based engineering and software systems.  He has over 23 years of experience in application of information systems, control systems, and manufacturing equipment throughout multiple technology based industries.  He is a native Hoosier who grew up in Loogootee, Indiana. 

Bob completed his BS in Electrical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame.  In addition, he completed his masters in project management and is currently completing his doctoral degree from Capella University focusing on outsourcing information systems.

Bob currently teaches classes as IUPUI on project management and consults with external groups on the topic.  Bob served on the ZEF grants committee prior to joining the ZEF board.  He has also coached youth lacrosse in the community for the past seven years and currently heads the Zionsville 3rd and 4th grade lacrosse program.

Bob and his wife Alison moved to Zionsville in 1993.  The continuing adventures of their three sons enable them to enjoy different schools within the Zionsville system each year.

Anne Steinberg
Anne Steinberg has been in the Indianapolis event business for over 15 years. Graduating from DePauw University with an economics degree, she moved to Indianapolis to work for a large regional bank. After spending six years in the banking industry, she decided to exit mainstream corporate life and introduced "Details by Decker", an event and project management company. Four years later, after establishing herself locally as an independent event manager, she joined Gene Huddleson to create "Detail + Design." Anne has worked on various corporate, sports related, not-for-profit, and hospitality events, with clients ranging from the Indy Racing League, the 500 Festival, the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library Foundation, and a handful of private clients.  

Anne and her husband, Len, have four daughters.  They moved to Zionsville from the Meridian-Kessler area in 2004.  In addition to her event business, she also spends time participating in volunteer activities including the Advisory Board of The Women's Fund of Central Indiana serving on the Executive committee and The Children's Museum Guild serving as President for 2011-12.  Anne was first introduced to ZEF shortly after moving to Zionsville while co-chairing Oktoberfest for a couple years.

Kara Swinford

Kara Swinford and her husband Scott have lived in Zionsville for 11 years.  They have two sons (12 and 14).  Kara graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Journalism.

She worked for nearly 12 years for the Indianapolis Star and News and almost 2 years for Indianapolis Monthly magazine in advertising.  Currently she is a stay at home mother.  Kara has been on the Oktoberfest and Fall Frolic committees for 4 years.  She has also volunteered regularly in her sons' schools for the past  years.


Debbie Ungar
Debbie Ungar holds a BA in Journalism from Indiana University.  Her professional background is in non-profit marketing and fundraising.  Debbie has worked for the American Cancer Society, State of Indiana and the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.   

Debbie and her husband, Ken, have been Zionsville residents since 2001. Ken is the owner of U/S Sports Advisors and author of the book "Ahead of the Game: What Every Athlete Needs to Know about Sports Business."

Debbie served as the President of the Eagle Elementary PTO in 2006-2007 and is currently active on the ZWMS PTO.  She has also served for five years on the ZEF "In Style" committee. 

Alison Wharry

Allison Wharry graduated from Zionsville High School in 1981.  She went on to graduate from Miami University and Indiana University School of Law. She has held a variety of legal jobs in the private, public and political sphere.  Before opening her own consulting firm, Delaplane Consulting, Allison was the vice president for government relations at the Indiana Hospital Association.  Allison now provides consulting services to hospitals and physician practices in the government relations and health policy areas.

 

Allison and her husband, Stan Evans have lived in Zionsville for fifteen years.  They are parents to two Zionsville Middle School students.  Allison also serves on the board of directors of the SullivanMunce Cultural Center and Indiana Covering Kids and Families.
